Comments, Anyone?
Not too long ago someone mentioned that it wasn't obvious how to get in touch with those of us on the Yahoo! Developer Network team. That surprised me until I took a fresh look at our web site myself.
It turns out that if you aren't using one of the API specific mailing lists we've setup, there really isn't an obvious route to us. To partially help that (we have more planned), we'll be enabling comments on all future posts to the YDN blog.
Of course we'll be on the lookout for spam (a sad fact of online life). We've also added our standard comment policy in the sidebar. As long as things stay on topic and respectful, there's shouldn't be much trouble.
Jeremy Zawodny
[Seriously: please keep comments relevant to the Yahoo! Developer Network. I've been removing a lot of off-topic comments here recently.]

Comments
Regarding unwanted spam comments... Have a look at Akismet for WordPress (I am just assuming this is a WordPress powered blog). I have found it to be very accurate when it comes to dealing with spam filtering. It have filtered out over seven hundred spam comments over my blog network and only wrongly indicated a comment as spam twice. I highly recommend it to fight spam.

Actually, this is a MoveableType powered blog. But many WP users swear by Akismet.

Good step
but personelly i would like to see, join a forum instead join mailing lists.I dont know how mailing lists works but i think a forum is easy for ask and scan answers. For example i have questions, problems about yui/grids but instead joining mailing lists i found another css layout and thinking to use it :(
Im sorry for off topic,i just dont know any other place to tell about this :)

You're not alone in feeling that way.
A forum is my next project, so stay tuned. :-)

Thanks Jeremy :)

BBA is a super move, but it's lacking the ability to authenticate desktop applications in the same manner as Flickr allows—through a frob fetched before authentication, that is converted into a token afterwards. Do you have plans to enable this anytime soon?
You could also do with some new groups for BBA and Photos it seems…
Cheers.

A "Submit Comment" option on the main developer.yahoo.com page might be an idea too. People may want to send you all info that they don't want to post publically. ie: I'd love a more private way to invite yahoo developers to check out my work and see what they think of what i've done with the yui (and Jack's yui-ext) without posting a url available to everyone.

How does one go about reporting bugs? For example, this page [http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/docs/connection/overview-summary-connection.js.html]
has a broken link [http://sourceforge.net/%20projects/yui/]. I've also noticed some problems in the YUI ConnectionManager documentation/examples.

The best place right now is probably the ydn-javascript mailing list:

Don't worry SPAM, there were no spam where there were no link in the comments. Yahoo should be opener.

Hi, does Yahoo TreeView support XML DataBinding ?

I have a legal (I think) question about something on the Yahoo! Maps AS-Flash and Flex API Components License Agreement. Where might I direct that question?

How do I susbscribe to the developer yahoo blog? Can't find the RSS link anywhere.
Posted by: Steven J at October 19, 2006 9:16 AM
Does your aggregator not support RSS auto-discovery?
In either case, the XML icons are on the lower right side of http://developer.yahoo.net/blog/

Is there an API for video.yahoo.com yet?

Reading the Yahoo! Maps AS-Flash and Flex API Components License Agreement got me wondering if it is ok to build a Flash app which uses the Yahoo! APIs and lives on a social networking site. Is this ok to do?

The sad thing is, you don't get feedback on the mailing lists either, sometimes. Maps GeoRSS has been invalid since it came out:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/yws-maps/message/1716
It is still not fixed:

I have created an application which uses the Yahoo! My Web 2.0 Search API (UrlSearch). I have some questions regarding the same. I tried posting in the "yws-search-general" mailing-list but all efforts to get a response from the YDN team have proved futile; hence this comment. If there is an alternate means of contacting the YDN team, I'd be glad to try it!
1. I have been unable to view the usage-data for my application-id on the usage-data page from Aug. 31, 2006, after logging in. The application-id has been used successfully upto the date of this comment. Has Yahoo! stopped providing this service or is this specifically for my app? And why?
2. WRT the Yahoo! My Web 2.0 UrlSearch service, the results returned should be sorted by "date" (recent first) by default according to the docs. However, if the "Yahoo ID" parameter is blank, the results returned are not the most recent by date. Is this a bug?
Thanking you, in anticipation.
Regards, J_Raghu

I've done some work with .NET and Yahoo maps, and most of the questions I see on the discussion boards are the problems people have with using Server side data with client side map calls, i.e. they can't figure out how to use data they have acquired (i.e. DataSet via Sql Calls) with client side calls to the yahoo api, I've found a way around this, and wanted to share it with yahoo with a step by step example that might find some use on your .net developer center, but can't find a way to share it with you guys. If you are interested in me sending you a copy of my article, email me at the address provided, I think it will have a lot more reader views if it is posted here

Cool .NET site. By the way, you missed another great resource from Microsoft: codeplex.com.

Got a few bugs to report:
On the Support Communities page (http://developer.yahoo.net/community/), clicking on the links to the Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! HotJobs, Yahoo! Weather groups gets you a group cannot be found error message. Clicking on Del.ico.us gets you a Resource not found error message. Speaking of links, you should add the new ydn-dotnet group to that page as well.
Also, like J.Raghu, the Applicaton Usage Data page never returns any data for me either.
Finally, I agree with some other posters that you guys are hard to reach. I used the Application Registration Form (http://developer.yahoo.com/register/) to confirm my usage was acceptable and I haven't heard anything back (either postive or negative) in over three weeks.

David: fixed broken links on the Community page, thanks. Also added links to other developer centers that weren't mentioned, like Ruby and Python.

when will yahoo finance get some decent APIs? RSS feeds for news are nice, but I'd like to be able to get quote information.
http://finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=YHOO is such a kludge!

I am not pleased with the new rating system for movies. It is not user friendly. I liked the old way where you would accept a letter grade for a movie without asking for a letter grade for 5 different categories and then requiring comments. I will be looking for a different site for movie reviews and comments.
