OpenID Support at Yahoo!
In case you missed the news (official press release), we announced support (starting at the end of the month) for OpenID 2.0 on both yahoo.com and flickr.com earlier today.
As explained on the What is OpenID page:
OpenID eliminates the need for multiple usernames across different websites, simplifying your online experience.
We've added an OpenID section to the Yahoo! Developer Network that provides more details for anyone wishing to integrated with Yahoo! using OpenID. Included there is a FAQ that covers a few things you may need to know.
We're looking forward to a whole new wave of lightweight personalized applications as adoption of OpenID increases around the Web.

This is great news. However, support for OpenId should mean not only support for authenticating users and acting as an openid provider, but also allowing for authentication into yahoo from another provider.
I'm disappointed to note that I will continue to need to use my Yahoo ID and Password despite having an openid elsewhere.

Of course bi-directional OpenID is ideal. But we have to start somewhere. Giving hundreds of millions of users the ability to use their IDs elsewhere probably isn't a bad place to begin, right? :-)

An OpenID implementation should include support for OpenID as a relying party. If all the big sites only go so far as to provide iDP support, it defeats the whole point of OpenID.

I need something like this from yahoo to help the new learners like me. I have a website www.solidamerica.com from Costa Rica and i can't find the way to develop it . I need to know if yaho can help me.

Let's hope the exposure to millions of Yahoo users will make OpenID easier for the mainstream to understand. At the moment, it's all just a little too technical for most people, especially when so many sites, whilst continuing to offer users an easy way to build profiles within their respective silos, are tacking OpenID facilities on as an afterthought.

I´m disappointed that you do not support relaying. It´s not a friendly move. Instead of being the first major portal to adopt OpenID as a relaying party, you act as all the others, trying to become the "de facto" provider. Hope you can change your mind and become a relaying party soon.
