A Conversation with Matt Mullenweg
A few weeks ago, Matt Mullenweg (co-creator of WordPress) came by Yahoo to talk to a bunch of Yahoo! bloggers about the current and future state of WordPress. After the meeting, I sat down with him for our Developer Spotlight series on YDN Theater to catch up on various topics.
In this 12 minute interview, we talk about:
- Turning 24
- Surprising uses of WordPress
- The next big WordPress release (new features)
- Scaling Automattic and WordPress.com
- bbPress (Automattic's message board software)
- PHP4 vs. PHP5
- PHP vs. other languages for web development
Thanks to Matt for coming to visit and taking the time to talk with me on camera.

The video plays kinda choppy ...

Good interview, but some technical flaws.

The interview was nice, but I found myself distracted by the big old-style microphone that Jeremy was holding. It didn't really seem to fit with the seated conversational interview. Couldn't you both have had lapel mics?

Peter: I'm sorry you found the microphone distracting. We're working on one with cloaking features for the next interview. :-)

The mic is O.K - and I stil haven't been able to load the video -( . There should a version for download for low-end users :P

Nice interview, but I've got similar problem with Ehab. Technical flaws, not as smooth as youtube

Great interview, loose the mic or at least allow your guest to speak into it.
Matt, I have been a follower of WP since you started. As long as your doing it for fun, it will always be fun!

Matt is the co-creator of wordpress and the software was forked from another project. Please fix your incorrect statement.

Dennis: Updated. Thanks for the correction.

Why is the video so chopping/slow... wish you guys could add it to youtube.
Posted by: chris at February 29, 2008 1:51 AM
Is there a transcript of this? I have a slow connection. Thanks.

Or an audio version...
Posted by: Cap at March 23, 2008 8:09 AM
Unfortunately not... we could do audio only if there's demand.
