One of the boards I post music on a lot does not support java script which means I cannot use the new player.

Is there any way to access the old player that worked so well ? . . especially with places like Archive.org ?

I would like to know that if I have the yahoo artist id, and the release id i.e. for a particular album, how will I get the list of tracks in that particular album ?
I am using Yahoo Music API.

Because the Music API's terms are strictly non-commercial, and it appears you are charging for the application after a set number of days, this usage is not allowed. Sorry!

It works from my computer here at home, but not from the server for my site www.lyricsyoulove.com. I'm not sure what the issue is. Is it my webhost or domain?

I just got this api id and i don't think i have used 5000 queries per day.


Is there a set rate per hour / minute for these queries?

I am trying to write an automated script to search for yahoo videos appropriate for my site, there may be times when these queries get fired very frequently in a short period of time. Is it that i am making too many queries in a short period of time? If so i can limit the number of queries per hour / minute or specified period.

UPDATE - I checked in again this morning, 10 hours later and now the api calls are working. I put in a change last night to make the calls less frequently. At any rate is there a way to make the api calls more stable? thanks

There is a typo in the Yahoo Music API docs:
Chapter: Search for tracks
Optional Paramter 'intersectsWith' must be 'intersectWith' (invalid parameter for 'intersectsWith;)

Besides that it's not working. I tried the following:

which should at least return "Otis Redding - Knock on Wood", but return nothing...

One more: ...will there be the possibility to to cross-object searches like (with artists and tracks ):
http://....../track/v1/list/search/all/knock?intersectWith=/artist/v1/list/search/artist/Otis

or (which is maybe easier since it's all within the track object):
http://....../track/v1/list/search/all/knock?intersectWith=/list/search/artist/Otis

I've never encounter that problem, you can change another video player if it always export videos with ad. Google and have a try. good luck.

The player plays both the video and the advertisement and the same time. This is really irritating two hear the two audio track. It shows the video track, and causes issues when trying to load different videos with the javascript methods. Often once this happens I can no longer load more videos.

I'm currently building a Windows-based program that is used to tag all sort of media files. MP3s, videos, and DRM-enabled tracks.

The thing is, when you download those files -- be it legally or not, but let's pretend the end-users are all good people -- they don't often come with complete tags. Any song could have tags giving various informations about it, like composer, copyrights, BPM, album cover, and so on. For example, the ID3v2 tags provide a way to tell the terms of use of the tagged file. But that's only an example.

My app would allow one to tag their files to a very deep degree of detail, but would primarily be used by end-users who see many non-tagged files from the net and would like to tag them appropriately.

My app will at least access Discogs, Last.fm and MusicBrainz to retrieve/guess information about a specific track. I though it could come handy to add Yahoo! to the possible list of data gathering sources...

But apparently, it sounds from the API key generation page that it's only possible to connect websites to the data. Am i wrong?

Another thing to note is that yahoo will only allow 5000 calls a day to the webservice.

I know you're going to love this answer, but due to content provider restrictions, we do not have the rights to expose our album images off-network.

May I suggest using a flickr or Y! Image search instead?

Our apologies. "salesgenrecode" has nothing to do with "genres" and will be removed in the next API release. Please don't use it.

In the Y! Music world, we have "categories". Categories can be genres, eras, themes, etc. So just specify a "response=categories" parameter to get associated categories for something. i.e. us.music.yahooapis.com/artist/v1/item/256352;response=categories

Hi, I'm trying to get the Artist bio, but I cannot figure out the correct API to get the information. According to the documentation the responses for Artists can include ShortBio and FullBio but I have not been able to find how to get this data. Any idea on how to get the data.

I have just been through the same frustrating exercise. I guess it was not possible to update the documentation. Judging by the low level of traffic on this forum I suspect that there is not a lot of development going on for this API.
