		<link>http://developer.yahoo.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4311</link>
<description><![CDATA[I have several computers running either XP or Vista (64 bit). If I attempt on the Vista machine to attach a 760 kb and a 1.9 meg file they initially load in reduced size, as expected. When I then select the option to return to the original size the smaller file succeeds but the larger one returns with the message '1 file(s) can't be sent'. This happens equally with both IE8 and Firefox 3.5. However, when I perform the same exercise on the XP machine it seems to work properly. Is there an issue with this version of Vista?]]></description>

<title>BrowserPlus Uploader - crashes when uploading more than 1 file</title>
		<link>http://developer.yahoo.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4054</link>
		<description><![CDATA[Hi Guys,<br /><br />I have a very simple implementation of the Browserplus Uploader. When uploading 1 file, no problem. When uploading 2 or more, it works once or twice but I usually get the crash dialog -- "BrowserPlusCore has encountered a problem and needs to close".<br /><br />Here's my simple html file:<br /><br />&lt;html&gt;<br />	&lt;head&gt;<br />		&lt;script src="http://bp.yahooapis.com/2.4.21/browserplus-min.js"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;<br />		&lt;script src="http://bp.yahooapis.com/toolbox/uploader/1.0.6/uploader-min.js"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;<br />	&lt;/head&gt;<br /><br />&lt;body&gt;<br /><br />	&lt;div id="myUploader" style="width:350px; height:285px; border:1px red dashed"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;<br /><br /><br />	&lt;script&gt;<br />		function myFileCB(result) {<br />		}<br /><br />		function myUploadCB(result) {<br />		}<br /><br />		var uploader = BPTool.Uploader.create("myUploader", {<br />							uploadUrl:"myURLThatWorks"			  				<br />			  			});<br /><br />		uploader.render();<br /><br />	&lt;/script&gt;<br /><br />&lt;/body&gt;<br />&lt;/html&gt;<br /><br />Now that html file is inside an IFRAME. This IFRAME is inside a YUI dialog.<br /><br />Any ideas?]]></description>

<title>BrowserPlus Uploader - crashes when uploading more than 1 file</title>
		<link>http://developer.yahoo.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4054</link>
<description><![CDATA[Hey Mike,<br /><br />Thanks for the report!<br /><br />I wonder if you'd be willing to try a couple things... First are you able to reproduce the bug on 2.5.0? You can uninstall browserplus then install 2.5.0 from here:<br /><a href="http://github.com/browserplus/platform/downloads" rel="nofollow" target="ext">http://github.com/browserplus/platform/downloads</a><br /><br />Either way, would you be willing to open up a bug, here: <br /><a href="http://browserplus.lighthouseapp.com/projects/43039-platform/overview" rel="nofollow" target="ext">http://browserplus.lighthouseapp.com/proje...atform/overview</a><br /><br />The final thing would be providing a small sample site and steps to reproduce.<br /><br />It really sounds like a bug in browserplus, as the BrowserPlusCore process should never crash, no matter what you do to it. Possibly interesting information are *what* files you drag in order to make it crash?<br /><br />Look forward to a bug report and more info, and thanks for taking the time!<br /><br />lloyd]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[Hey Lloyd,<br /><br />Thanks for the response.<br /><br />I just tried version 2.5, but I still get the same crash. I closed all Firefox browsers prior to trying it.<br /><br />The files I'm uploading are just jpeg files. They are just around 278KB each.<br /><br />I dont drag and drop. I just use the "Browse..." link.<br /><br />Uploading 1 file - no problems.<br /><br />Uploading 2 to 4 files are inconsistent. Sometime it works, sometimes it crashes.<br /><br />Crash almost always takes place with 5 or more files.<br /><br />Hope this helps.<br /><br />Thanks!]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Hi,<br /><br />I have developed a web app, that is widely used in our company (200+ users) as a primary tool to work with. Basically everything is okay, if not BrowserPlus would crash quite often. How can I debug this and how can I provide useful information to you?<br /><br />I see basically two scenarios:<br />1. The complete plugin crashes and is available after a restart of the browser.<br />2. BrowserPlus can't be initialized on a page load, after reload everything works just fine.<br /><br />Best regards,<br />Oliver]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Hi guys, congraturations for the awesome framework.<br /><br />I've one proposal, why don't add an onclick event callback or something like to the notifications api?<br /><br />i think desktop notifications are very important in rich web application (event driven applications for instance, like chat, nework monitoring, social networks ecc..)..<br /><br />your notifications api is nice, but one thing very important in notification is to give to the user the possibilitiy to reach a dyinamic webpage for getting more details from an event, then why don't add a configurable callback function or simply and "onClickUrl" parameter (or more simply HTML &lt;a&gt; tag capability in the message body)?]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Actually, BrowserPlus on Windows uses unicode pathnames. The "utf8()" that you're seeing is just because our logging apis only accept string args (not wstring). The issue with Zipper and non-ascii paths is that the underlying zip library that we use doesn't support unicode. I'm in the process of looking at moving Zipper to a different underlying zip library which does understand unicode.<br /><br />-- gordon]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Hi, <br />Browserplus is very impressive. Developers that use IIS servers and asp find very difficult to implement.<br /><br />I tried to change upload.php for upload.asp and get ERROR: permissionDenied<br /><br />function uploadFiles(e) { <br /> elFile.innerHTML ="Uploading..."; <br /> elZip.innerHTML = ""; <br /> <br /> if (ZippedFiles != null) { <br /> BrowserPlus.Uploader.upload( <br /> { <br /> url: "<b>http://localhost/FreeASPupload/upload.asp</b>", <br /> files: {"file": ZippedFiles} <br /><br /> }, <br /> function(res) { <br /> if (res.success) { <br /> elFile.innerHTML ="Uploaded! If anyone can, please help us.<!--QuoteEnd--></blockquote></div><!--QuoteEEnd--><br /><br /><br />This is the answer I got, but I still could not get it to work so uninstalled BrowserPlus and just use attach at the top not at the bottom.<br /><br />Thanks for writing to Yahoo! UK Customer Care.<br /><br />I understand you are unable to attach files in your Yahoo! Mail account.<br />I apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you.<br /><br />If you are attempting to attach files by clicking on "ATTACH" button at<br />the bottom left corner of compose window, you are using our enhanced<br />attachment tool, called Yahoo! Browser Plus. Yahoo! BrowserPlus is an<br />open source platform that extends the capabilities of your web browser<br />to make richer web experiences possible.<br /><br />I. Please make that you are using an operating system and browser that<br />supports the BrowserPlus add-on.<br /><br />Supported operating systems and browsers are:<br /><br />Mac OS X 10.4, Tiger (Intel only)<br />Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard (Intel only)<br /><br />- Supported browsers are Firefox 2 & 3 and Safari 3<br /><br />Windows XP<br />Windows Vista<br />Windows 7<br /><br />- Supported browsers are IE 6, 7 & 8, Firefox 2 & 3, Safari 3 & 4 and<br />Google Chrome<br /><br />II. Uninstall the BrowserPlus Add-on<br /><br />1. Log out of Mail by clicking the "Sign Out" link by your name in the<br />upper-left of the Mail Page.<br />2. Close your browser.<br />3. Uninstall BrowserPlus. You can uninstall using the "BrowserPlus<br />Configuration Panel".<br /><br /><br />########################################################################<br />################<br /><br />Macintosh OS:<br /><br />A. On a Macintosh go to "System Preferences", select the "BrowserPlus<br />Configuration Panel".<br />B. Click on "Uninstall BrowserPlus..."<br /><br /><br />########################################################################<br />################<br /><br />Windows OS:<br /><br />A. On Windows you can find both "Configure BrowserPlus" and "Uninstall<br />BrowserPlus" Panels in "Program Files" -&gt; "BrowserPlus".<br />B. Click on "Uninstall BrowserPlus"<br />C. Confirm that you want to uninstall.<br /><br />NOTE: You can also remove BrowserPlus from Windows from the "Add/Remove<br />Programs" control panel.<br /><br />4. Launch your Browser and log into Mail at:<br /><br /> <a href="http://uk.mail.yahoo.com" rel="nofollow" target="ext">http://uk.mail.yahoo.com</a><br /><br />You will be able to continue to attach files in the normal manner.<br /><br />To reinstall BrowserPlus please visit the following web page and follow<br />the instructions provided there:<br /><br /> <a href="http://browserplus.yahoo.com/install/" rel="nofollow" target="ext">http://browserplus.yahoo.com/install/</a><br /><br /><br />------------------------------------------------------------------------<br />--------------------------------------------------<br /><br />If you are attempting to attach files by clicking on ATTACH button at<br />the above your compose window (near the SEND button), please follow the<br />below troubleshooting steps:<br /><br />I've found that this can most often be resolved by checking your browser<br />add-ons or your network security software, another possibility is that<br />it's an issue with your router model.<br /><br />I. Temporarily disable Anti-Virus/Anti-spy and firewall Products:<br />______________________________________________________________________<br /><br />Maybe one of your security applications, such as your antivirus,<br />anti-spyware, or firewall products, is causing a problem with your<br />Yahoo! Mail. To see if this is the problem, please temporarily disable<br />your security software to see if the issue goes away.<br /><br />1. For most security software products, you can right-click on the<br />security software icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen,<br />by the system clock. This will usually pop up a menu with "Preferences"<br />or "disable" as an option.<br />2. Try to change one of those options to see if the issue goes away.<br /><br />PLEASE NOTE: In some cases, you might not be able to completely disable<br />the security software. The directions for each security software package<br />differ from vendor to vendor. If you need help, please get in touch with<br />your security software vendor or computer Help desk.<br /><br />II. Disable Internet browser Add-Ons/Plug Ins:<br />___________________________________________________<br /><br />Each Internet browser comes with optional upgrades or enhancements<br />commonly known as "add-ons" or "plug-ins." These features make your<br />Internet browser more useful & certain add-ons or plug-ins can<br />potentially cause issues with Yahoo! Mail.<br /><br />To find out if this is the case, please try one of the following tasks<br />for your specific browser: common uses include (but aren't limited to)<br />Toolbars, News or Stock Tickers, Instant Messaging, Weather alerts,<br />Email alerts, Anti-virus/Anti-spy or Games<br /><br />If you're running FireFox:<br /><br />1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Add-ons" or "Extensions" depending on<br />your version.<br />2. Disable or uninstall extensions found here.<br />3. Click "OK."<br />4. Close and relaunch your Internet browser.<br /><br />NOTE: Once a FireFox extension has been uninstalled, you can reinstall<br />it by visiting the FireFox extension library here:<br /><br /><a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/?application=firefox" rel="nofollow" target="ext">https://addons.mozilla.org/?application=firefox</a><br /><br /><br />------------------------------------------------------------------------<br />--<br /><br />III. <title>Add relative path information to file objects</title>
		<link>http://developer.yahoo.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=3501</link>
<description><![CDATA[Hi folks,<br /><br />How about adding relative path information to file objects returned by the FileBrowse and DragAndDrop services?<br /><br />This addition would give a big boost to applications that involve uploading files, since users will be able to select the top level folder of a complex structure and the application will be able to reconstruct that structure on the remote site.<br /><br />For example, assume that we have the following structure on a Win-32 environment:<br /><br />C:&#92;....&#92;MyPictures&#92;<br />C:&#92;....&#92;MyPictures&#92;image01.jpg<br />C:&#92;....&#92;MyPictures&#92;image02.jpg<br />C:&#92;....&#92;MyPictures&#92;Folder1<br />C:&#92;....&#92;MyPictures&#92;Folder1&#92;image11.jpg<br />C:&#92;....&#92;MyPictures&#92;Folder1&#92;image12.jpg<br />C:&#92;....&#92;MyPictures&#92;Folder1&#92;Folder2<br />C:&#92;....&#92;MyPictures&#92;Folder1&#92;Folder2&#92;image21.jpg<br />C:&#92;....&#92;MyPictures&#92;Folder1&#92;Folder2&#92;image22.jpg<br /><br />Then the user selects (or drops) the "MyPictures" folder, the FileBrowse service should return the following array:<br /><br />var files = [<br /> {<br /> BrowserPlusHandleId: 41,<br /> BrowserPlusHandleName: "MyPictures",<br /> BrowserPlusType: "BPTPath", // what does this stand for?<br /> mimeType: ["application/x-folder"],<br /> name: "MyPictures",<br /> size: 0,<br /> parent: null // null for top level directory<br /> },<br /> {<br /> BrowserPlusHandleId: 42,<br /> BrowserPlusHandleName: "image1.jpg",<br /> BrowserPlusType: "BPTPath",<br /> mimeType: ["image/jpeg", "image/pjpeg"],<br /> name: "image1.jpg",<br /> size: 0,<br /> parent: files[0]<br /> },<br />......<br />......<br />......<br />]<br /><br />Alternatively to pointing to the parent object, one could represent hierarchy by unix-like path strings, eg "/" for the topo level folder, "/image1" etc.<br /><br />I think that this modification will not break the BP security model principles, as it only exposes information relevant to items selected by the user.<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />Michalis<br /><br />PS Is there an estimation on the release of the source code of the FileBrowse and DragAndDrop services?]]></description>

We actually spent some time talking about this idea today and all of us felt that it sounds reasonable. From a security standpoint It seems to jive with the other rules we've imposed. When you drop a file into a page you're allowing the page to interact with it... But, we've been holding off on changing the way selections are returned now because we have bigger plans. Here's the summary:<br /><br />Today, both FileBrowse and DragAndDrop have very complicated return values. They both are capable of performing recursion, mime type filtering, and a host of other stuff. The problem is every time we add something in one place, it's got to be added in another. Furthermore, there are some types of services we would like to write that would return folders, and we'd have to replicate the features there too. So we hope to release 2.x versions of the FileBrowse and DragAndDrop services which return *exactly* what the user drops. No special manipulation. Then we would implement the various ways to recurse, extract nested files by mime type, or whatnot in a separate service. By moving this code into a distinct service it will be common between these two services, and perhaps useful in other ways in the future.<br /><br />How's all that sound to you?<br /><br />Now, as far as source code availablility, currently FileBrowse and DragAndDrop are part of the <i>platform</i>. The reason for this is because they must run *inside* the browser process in order to render modal windows or steal drops away from the browser. So the code for these services will be available when the platform code becomes available, and we're aiming to have that done before the end of the year.<br /><br />The development of a Directory traversal service is under way now (by gordon), and I imagine he'll be dropping that service on github shortly. A lot of fun he's having with Windows "symlinks", shortcuts, ntfs "junctions", and a host of other stuff I've never heard of before! <br /><br />very best,<br />lloyd]]></description>

<br /><br />very best,<br />lloyd<!--QuoteEnd--></blockquote></div><!--QuoteEEnd--><br /><br />Hi Lloyd,<br /><br />Thank you for your reply. What you describe sounds like the right thing to do, so we will be looking forward for the future releases of BP :-)<br /><br />Best Regards,<br /><br />Michalis]]></description>

<description>I was about to turn my computer off for the night when I saw that I had a new program installed balloon pop up. I checked it out and it was Browser Plus. I was going to uninstall it and check for viruses, but checked it out first online. I will keep it for now. Not sure how it managed to get on my system without my approval. Will keep a close eye on it though.</description>

<title>Browser Plus installed without my knowledge</title>
		<link>http://developer.yahoo.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=3487</link>
<description><![CDATA[Hi John,<br /><br />BrowserPlus is used to create a better Yahoo Mail attachment experience, where you can drag+drop files and photos from your desktop directly into your email message. BrowserPlus is usually installed through:<br /><br /><ol type='1'><li>Yahoo Mail the first time you click Attach</li><li>Yahoo Messenger 10</li></ol><br /><br />BrowserPlus only runs when you actually use it (for example, actually attaching files within Yahoo Mail). Otherwise, it does not run in the background, just using disk space and not CPU. If you don't need it, BrowserPlus can easily be uninstalled through the Control Panel in Windows or System Preferenes on the Mac.<br /><br />Regards,<br /><br />Steve Spencer]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Hello,<br /><br />Today when I tried to attach a file I was offered the new BrowserPlus. I selected "maybe later" and chose not to install BrowserPlus at that moment. After that, I pressed "Attach" again to select my file and the browser closed unexpectedly. I am using Firefox 3.5.5 under XP. I have tried several times, and both Firefox 3.5.5 and Internet Explorer 7 now close immediately after pressing "Attach". Remember I chose NOT to install BrowserPlus.<br /><br />I logged in with a different yahoo acount, tried to attach a file, and again I was offered BrowserPlus, I declined, and now every time I press "Attach", both browsers will close unexpectedly with this different account. I can't attach files anymore with any account. I have gone back to Yahoo Classic, and attach works fine.<br /><br />Whenever I restart Firefox after it closed unexpectedly, it won't restore the previous session unless I deselect the tab where I was using Yahoo Mail.<br /><br />Lloyd or anyone else, may you help?]]></description>

Every time yahoo mail loads Safari crashes. Looking around the internet at other computer fix sites this seems to be a major problem for everyone. Why would yahoo be so irresponsible as to put out a plug in like this. Either they are incompetent or have have some other issue.<!--QuoteEnd--></blockquote></div><!--QuoteEEnd--><br /><br />Hey Robert,<br /><br />Thanks for letting us know of the situation. Would you be willing to reproduce the problem and send us a bug report?<br /><a href="http://browserpl.us/docs/FAQ.html#bugReport" rel="nofollow" target="ext">http://browserpl.us/docs/FAQ.html#bugReport</a><br /><br />Please drop a note on this forum once you've done so and I'll be able to find your report.<br /><br />Also, If you can provide a stack trace, that would really help out. If you search for the CrashReporterPrefs application on your map and temporarily set it to "Developer", you'll get a pop up window when safari crashes that let's you view "crash details". If you were to make that available to us it would help us track your issue down.<br /><br />very best,<br />lloyd]]></description>

<description>I have the exact same problem. Mine also used to work well, but only have trouble with it now. Contact the Yahoo Mail online chat support today and eventually uninstalled the browser plus. After that the attachments uploaded fine. This would be a very nice feature if only it would work properly. I hope it can be fixed.</description>
