I was about to turn my computer off for the night when I saw that I had a new program installed balloon pop up. I checked it out and it was Browser Plus. I was going to uninstall it and check for viruses, but checked it out first online. I will keep it for now. Not sure how it managed to get on my system without my approval. Will keep a close eye on it though.

Hi John,

BrowserPlus is used to create a better Yahoo Mail attachment experience, where you can drag+drop files and photos from your desktop directly into your email message. BrowserPlus is usually installed through:

  1. Yahoo Mail the first time you click Attach
  2. Yahoo Messenger 10

BrowserPlus only runs when you actually use it (for example, actually attaching files within Yahoo Mail). Otherwise, it does not run in the background, just using disk space and not CPU. If you don't need it, BrowserPlus can easily be uninstalled through the Control Panel in Windows or System Preferenes on the Mac.

Regards,

Steve Spencer

Hello Steve,
I have tried so many things to get rid of Browser Plus, I desperately need the extra space.
In the end I have deleted the whole of Yahoo!Xtra Mail" and the Messenger as well.
I have Windows XP and I was using the programme...Ask, Answer, Discover.
I just want it remove,d so if I get it removed and decide to use the same programme again, I suppose I will end up with the same problem.

Regards,
Linda

P.S. SO many people are stuck with this problem.

I downloaded the yahoo 'make attachments easier' thing yesterday. today, i too see a 'new programs' note and that i have browser plus and a link to uninstall it.
from the comments here, i'm thinking it's a usage hog?
i'm not a computer whiz and would like input on whether or not to delete it. thanks, cj

Right, it's BrowserPlus that makes attachments easier. It should not be a resource hog. It only runs when you actually visit a web page that uses BrowserPlus (Yahoo Mail attachments). Otherwise, it just takes a little bit of disk space and does not run in the background.

Hope that helps,
